Sephora Wishlist April 2014

Sephora Wishlist April 2014

I'm probably the last on the bandwagon to talk about Sephora delivering to the U.K, and write up a wishlist. However, being fortunate enough to have a really good friend in the U.S willing to post any of my orders from Sephora to me, I wasn't exactly salivating to put in an order. I did receive a box full of goodies in February (which I will post next week) that I've really tested out in the last month. This wishlist is inspired by what I think would be repurchases or "holy-grail" items, having heard so much good things about them all. If I was to forget about eyeliner completely I could definitely see this wishlist as consisting of my entire makeup bag. Being a compulsive buyer with little to no buyers remorse I really have to limit myself to two items in this wishlist. What two items would you buy?

WHY SHAYCARL MAKES ME WANT TO BE A MORMON.

"If life is worth living, it's worth recording"
Shaycarl Butler and his beautiful wife Colettte along with their five idyllic children have become one of the fundamental cornerstones within the Youtube community. Shaycarl started his youtube journey with the channel "the Shaytards" five years ago last wednesday; so I thought it was only appropriate to write a post on him this week in particular. Anybody who has watched more than a handful of their videos will be clued into the fact that they are an extremely successful and happy mormon family. Their religion and Shaycarl's spirituality is a topic that not only appears in their videos from time to time but it also discussed at great lengths especially on their "one-take" Sundays where they record a one take video when they return from their church service.
Being a member of the Catholic Church in Ireland, it has become very easy to question one's faith and commitment to the gospel and the "good news" as they say. I started watching the Shaytards channel during its first year but one thing that really struck home to me was Shay's inspirational monologues. Whether it be on financial responsibility or on spirituality in general, Shay has always "preached" from experience, and it is definitely clear to the viewer that what he says comes from the heart rather than coming off condescending or as a "know-it-all". The viewer can see that he genuinely doesn't want people to make the same mistakes he did. His talks on spirituality really made me look at my own faith. Throughout my teen years, the monotony of attending mass weekly really discouraged me from actually looking at my own faith. Now at the age of twenty two I find a sense of peace in my mind when I attend mass and I hope to have a much greater understanding of the facets of my faith in the years to come.
Getting back to the main objective of this post, Shaycarls family show the epitome of the perfect family. You have a man and wife who are completely committed to each other for the rest of eternity, who spend all their time on the welfare and success of their family as one unit. And the reason they give for their success in life? Their faith in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Their core belief system works on the family unit, on gratitude and good will. That the short physical life they have on earth determines the rest of their eternal spirits after death, and that the effort given in this life will reap an abundance of reward in the next.
It's hard to forget the shocking footage of fundamental mormonism with FLDS and the actual realities of being a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, the commitment, and the scarifice. But with the Butlers as Poster Children for Mormonism, they paint a very enticing picture of what members of the faith enjoy. The happiness they radiate creates envy in spades amongst their viewers; which Shay tries to soothe with his personal philiosophies on happiness, for example; "Happiness is a Choice" and "You can't always be happy but, if you're always striving to choose happiness - everyday you wake up and say to yourself 'I am going to choose not to let the outside influences of the world affect my mood' - I promise you will live a happier life"
It's difficult for viewers not to buy into the perfect life or that perfection is attainable. That reason alone will be the reason why I will return to the Shaytards daily to watch their videos, and why to me, they are the best ambassadors the LDS church could have ever dreamed of.

SUNDAY FUNDAY..... (05/01/2014)

Long time no see folks! Happy Belated Christmas and a Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely holiday! Whilst I took a rather undeserved break from writing this blog, I sat down and really considered what it was I wanted to focus on and what kind of a schedule I would adhere to. For a constant procrastinator like myself even holding myself down to a plan is difficult never mind for anyone else who has to put up with me! I've decided on four posts a week, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday/Sunday. The weekly posts will consist of anything of interest to me, and the weekend post(s) will consist of either a synopsis of the week or lifestyle posts. So, because I haven't posted since before Christmas; this first post for the new year will just be about yesterday. I do have a post about my New Years Eve and a Christmas post aswell to upload but I'll do that separately to the schedule I have promised.

Yesterday was a pretty quiet day, funnily enough. The above photo basically sums up my day :). I got to spend the day at home relaxing. After a fairly long break from really doing anything with my horse Alfie (the owner of the ears on the top photo) I decided with the New Year should come a new exercise routine for him and a much needed cleaning. I don't know why but every time I take a long break from Alfie I'm always afraid he's going to be really fresh or somehow forget the whole concept of somebody actually being on his back and become some kind of bucking bronco. But; as always he was a sweetheart and it was as if I hadn't taken a break at all. For all of you whom have no idea about horses that is pretty rare! I always feel so ashamed for thinking the worst of him for absolutely no reason, I definitely don't deserve him. I also helped my brother Oliver, wash his horse Oscar and as he was standing like the gentleman he is; our two outside dogs were eating up all his nuts! The rest of the day was spent either watching old criminal minds episodes and working on accounts for a local charity I volunteer as a treasurer for. All in all, a pretty uninteresting day for a twenty something year old even more so for the poor souls reading this babble. :) Anyways, I hope you all had a lovely weekend and I shall see you Wednesday!

BEYONCE 2013 ALBUM

Hey Guys!
I'm assuming by this stage most have heard of the new release of Beyonce Knowles album entitled "Beyonce", if not, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN THIS PAST 24 HOURS?
I kid, I kid, usually, more often than not I'm the last person to keep up to pop news of any kind. This visual album released in the early hours of last night has been driving people insane! With little to no promotion, this album has been the best kept secret since Area 51; I even have to admit it was a ballsy move on Beyonce's part. BUT, she is insanely talented and artistic and while there has been no traditional promotion methods, this "ballsy" tactic has ensured that EVERYONE and their mother will be talking about this for at least a few months (Which is a lifetime in the entertainment business). The other interesting twist in this PR hysteria is the album comprises of corresponding videos, for every single song! So hats off to Mrs. Knowles because while I have no real comprehension of what kind of effort goes into an album with two or three videos to accompany; I can't even imagine in my wildest dreams what it took to put this all together! For once in my life, I am not going to be cheap,  and shall buy the album from Itunes! Let me know what you think of this drama? Did Beyonce make the right move in shocking the nation? Have you/or will you actually purchase the album? Til next time, Maisy x

POPE FRANCIS- TIME MAGAZINE'S PERSON OF THE YEAR 2013

Hey guys!
I know I have been pretty vague in regards to what I'm actually going to write about on this blog; but I decided today that whatever catches my interest will just have to suffice for the minute. Until the new year, when I will have far more spare time to actually plan out a blog timetable and set different topics for specific days.

Now onto what I really wanted to discuss, today I discovered (whilst watching Sourcefed on Youtube) that Pope Francis was awarded TIME Magazine's "Person of the Year" for 2013. Despite the bad name that the Catholic Church as an institution has gained throughout the world, I was pleasantly surprised that he was chosen.

As a twenty two year old student, it would come as little surprise to anybody reading this blog, that apart from the Papal election of Pope Francis; I never really gave him much thought. BUT, after reading the attached article on the TIME Magazine website, which contains uplifting quotes from the Pope himself on various different topics, I was really impressed. Two that stood out to me in particular were in relation to abortion as a result of rape or poverty "Who can remain unmoved before such painful situations?" and in relation to gay citizens "If a homosexual person is of good will and is in search of God, I am no one to judge". Pope Francis joins only two of his predecessors in attaining the award, Pope John XXIII (1962) famous for mediating during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and Pope John Paul II (1994).

Whilst it cannot be denied that Pope Francis joins an elite group of people, especially those of whom are infamous for their actions, J.F Kennedy (1961), Mahatma Ghandi (1930), Corazon C. Aquino (1986). There also seems to be a few questionable choices, apart from the obvious Presidential choice which occurs every few years, some may be surprised to hear the Adolf Hitler won the award in 1938. Hitlers achievement being the unification of Germany and Austria as German Chancellor. Wallis Simpson in 1936 for her relationship with King Edward XIII and ultimately the reason for his abdication. Newt Gingrich in 1995 for the "Republican Revolution". I could continue on, but I fear this post is already tediously long. I will however say that I was extremely shocked and dismayed that Nelson Mandela did not make the cut, I will have to buy the magazine I'm afraid and see if he was put in the list at all. Maybe next year?

Til next time, Maisy x

They gave them little hats! :) I kept the hat but god knows what I'm gonna use it for! Anybody else get these? Do they come in different colours? Let me know in the comments below! Til next time, Maisy x

New Blog, New Start?

After giving up on my feeble attempts to foolishly create my own website and admit defeat to the internet gods that be. Here it is; a new blog with absolutely no aims or goals, I'm just going to write about whatever is relevant or interesting to me on that particular day and see how it goes. Hopefully I won't kill you with boredom but if I do, know that it was done with the best intentions ;). Ideally I'm going to aim to post approximately 4-5 times a week whether they be short or long posts that remains to be seen but realistically they're not going to be the length of a novella or anything remotely like it. Next on the to-do list is blog design, if anyone falls upon this post by some miracle I would love to hear any ideas, or maybe I'll just trawl other peoples blog and steal ideas :). Till next time. Maisy x
